El Grande
El Grande – SharewareEl Grande is a strategy board game designed by Wolfgang Kramer and Richard Ulrich, and published by El Grande Games. It is set in medieval Spain and revolves around players taking on the role of powerful grandes seeking to win influence over the country's regions through strategic placement and manipulation of caballeros (knights).
- Players begin by secretly choosing which power cards to play, each of which will affect the placement or movement of caballeros on the board.
- They then take turns placing their own caballeros into the various regions of Spain, with larger numbers of caballeros providing greater influence.
- The game also introduces various special powers, such as the ability to remove an opponent's caballero, or to move multiple caballeros at once.
At the end of each round, players earn points based on their level of influence in each region. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins.
El Grande is known for its deep strategy and complex gameplay. It has won numerous awards, including the Spiel des Jahres in 1996.
